Alex began her search for her friend Zira in Ennerdale Street since it was right outside the police station so it made the most sense to search there first. She got a text message from the Genius that stated his base of operations was south of the street. She came to an old house with white walls and brown ceiling and knocked on the door. A man opened the door and asked, "What's your business here?"
"I'm here to see the Genius," replied Alex.
"One moment."
The man closed the door and left for a moment before coming back and opening the door. "Come in. She's in the basement."
'She?' thought Alex. So the Genius was a woman. Alex walked through the living room of the house and then went over to the staircase that led to the basement. She walked down the old stairs and found a room with boxes everywhere, a computer and a desk and a child sitting at the computer. Alex was confused at first, but the child finally spoke.
"Welcome," said the child.
"Um... are you the Genius's daughter?" Alex asked.
The child merely chuckled. "No, Miss Malaware, I am the Genius."
Alex's confusion grew even stronger. "But you're only a little girl."
"I assure you I haven't been a little girl for a long time," said the Genius. She began typing on the keyboard and her fingers were a blur. She then took a packet of blood and tore it open draining its contents before typing even faster than before.
"Y-you're a vampire!" Alex declared.
The Genius only smiled. "So you finally figured it out."
"A-are you like the Red Devil?"
The Genius's face became grim. "I am nothing like the Red Devil. I am far more civilized."
Alex shook her head and repositioned herself. "What do you know about my friend Zira?"
The Genius shrugged her shoulders. "What do you have to offer me?"
"What?"
"Information is my specialty, and not all info comes free. If you have money to burn, I may loosen my tongue. If you have valuable information to share, I may loosen my tongue. Give me something worth my time, I may loosen my tongue."
"So, you're not interested in helping me. Only helping yourself."
"That's how we pay the bills around here, Miss Malaware," answered the Genius.
"I don't have any information to give you, and I have little money. Surely there's something else I can do to get the information I need."
"Perhaps," replied the Genius. "There have been a spike in T-Virus activity lately. A rogue group has been collecting samples and injecting different animals. Find the source of the rogue group and I'll give you all the information you desire."
"Where can I find them?" asked Alex.
"North of Ennerdale. Good luck."
Alex left the basement, went through the living room and out of the house. She didn't look back as she began wandering north of Ennerdale with her pistol close by her side to find out anything she could on this rogue group collecting the T-Virus. She didn't like the sound of it, but it was the only thing she could do to find her friend. And she would do anything to help her best friend.
