"There isn't going to be any rescue, we have to get out of here!"
"That sounds painful." He simply said as took one last minute to take everything in before he finally started walking down the path headed for that hill. The closer he got more nervous he felt, what would he find in there, did he really want to know all of Alice's secrets? Would it ruin the imagine of the woman he was raised by or would it shed new light on her in a way she never admitted to him? How would he come out of this when they were done, perhaps maybe this would be the closure he needed? Or would just open doors to more questions that he'd have to track down the answers to.

"You seem uneasy," she finally said, she had felt it a while ago, a trait of her strain was feeling when Type Altereds were stressed, it was an instinct in her that allowed her to control lesser type based BOWs but also let her feel others emotions to a degree. It helped when she was somewhat connected to someone emotionally.
"I know this isn't going to be easy for you," she said watching where she was walking, "but you can't let memories hold onto your soul so strongly. You have so much life to live and their times up. We move forward and grow, whether together or apart, it's our job to remember our idols and friends how we imagine them, not how history will write them."
"Damn, and here I thought I was hiding it well." He tried to lighten the mood as they walked until eventually he opened up. "It's... I don't know, I'm worried? I'm, I really don't know. I'm not like her, I didn't take a fall off a building and crack my skull open like an egg, and forget literally everything." There was a twinge of annoyance. "I don't have the luxury of just walking away from who I was because I can't remember it."
He kept walking, his tone not getting any lighter; "I'm not even going to lie because I'm scared of finding out something. I'm terrified, no I'm petrified of finding out the woman who I came to love as a mother was only pretending. I'm scared to find out that everything, was all just an act." He stopped talking as well as walking shaking his head and recomposing himself. "Sorry for dumping, I don't where it came from."

"She remembers a lot more than she lets off, she's just able to walk away from it all because she found a duty that's better than hanging onto a dead past," Harmony said, in ways she and Amy were a lot alike in that regard, "what Grace is doing is admirable in a way, she's pushing forward with the experience others have given her but also as her own person. She didn't need closure because she is wired differently than the rest of us, her priority is to fire and forget. She was designed as an assassin, designed to kill and never make lasting connections."
"You... were not," she said, her eyes shifted almost sad in a way because she remembered something she didn't want to, "you were designed to fight on the front lines with comrades and to build bonds. That's why being betrayed by Alice would hurt you and for Grace it wouldn't... In a way, you were designed to be a good person and she was designed to be a shitty one and that's neither of your faults."
She could feel the tear run down the side of her face and she quickly wiped it away, "I'm sorry. If you want to turn around I don't blame you, we don't have to do this."
He took a moment, what she said was the most oddly insightful thing he'd ever heard. Typically he'd be told it didn't matter, just move on or some other thing that never helped him get over the way he felt when it came to losing people but that, that explanation caused everything to make sense now. It took twenty-four years to finally get an answer but now he had it. He shook his head, "Nah we can keep going." He replied, before turning to face her "Thank you for that. Just something about that helps me understand it, and that's been a big part of my problems. Not understanding."
He took a deep breath and let out a long sigh from behind tight lips, "Okay so, where were we. Right. This way." He said as he started walking again. How easily he forgot that the woman with him was one of the head researchers for the entire 300 project. In was both nice and weird in a way because when she could remember she had the answers to a lot of his questions.

She didn't talk much after that, she had put herself in a certain mood, she was glad she helped him with what she said but at the same time it struck her hard given the things she remembered. It was like three people lived in history with her face and name. The girl, the monster, and the misunderstood. At this point she just hoped Alice had answers on who she was better than what she had dug up herself.
"Adam," she started as she continued on following, "promise me whatever we uncover, you do not see me different than before... And I will promise not to change with what we discover in return."
Her words were kind of painful as she said them, the meaning was one searching for comfort now that she had found someone to be comfortable around. This was a discovery for both of them it seemed, one for her past, one for his future. It was then it occurred to her that she was living in the past and had no goal for the future.
He stopped and turned to face her hesitating for a moment before grabbing her hands and lowering his head so he could make eye contact with her. "Let's do each other a solid then." He replied lowly, "I won't let you return to who you were, Don't let me do the same, I won't judge you for your past, so please don't judge mine. If you're willing, we'll build our futures together." They weren't far now, but he took a minute, she helped console him with a problem he was happening so now it was his turn.

"No worries," she said, "I don't plan to hold you in any other regard than I do now. Let's just get this done and move on with our lives. For better or worse."
She bumped him with her forehead and pushed onward, "I can't wait to see what the hell her place looks like. Alice always seemed like a simple person and yet I've seen how she dressed outside and inside combat, she was always stylish so I imagine she's got a stitch or two for fashion."
He smiled inwardly at the contact and as she pulled away he let go of her. He listened to her talk for a minute, he never really noted anything about Alice's style. To be fair the last time they were around one another she was just borrowing from Amy's closet when they stayed at the penthouse. "Maybe who knows. I never really took much notice in those things." He replied, his tone lighter and he seemed a bit better now than he was before. Not so many thoughts running through his head.
"We should be close, just past this hill." He said as they were already half way over the hill. The place looked over the original ground zero where the bombs dropped in 2006. From it, not only did you have a clear few of the largest three craters but also off in the distance you had a clear few of the rebuilt Raccoon City.

The sight below was one she had never truly witnessed before today, she had seen aerial views a while back but never witnessed the destruction and overgrowth of what remained. Much of the city was still there but fall apart, it was ruins if she had ever seen them and yet there were a handful of buildings down there that looked well kept up. They didn't exactly stick out but they were better looking than the rest.
One of the few was indeed a sky rise close to ground zero. The place Alice called home.
"To think this is where the end of the world started."
"For others it was the beginning of it." He was of course talking about himself and others like him that were either tested on with no memories or were simply born during the time the pandemic had spread and people for fighting. He took a minute to just looked everything over, in his mind's eye he remembered everything the way it used to be, no overgrown or ruined buildings. Even the old Saint Micheal's tower, or at least where it originally stood.
"One day I'll have to take a trip there, I haven't been since the bombs dropped." Maybe another time he was forced to take time off after a month or so of working non-stop. He started walking towards Alice's place, a simple 'shall we' question was asked before he lead the way up to the door. This was the furthest he'd ever gotten, before he stopped up at that hill and didn't go any further.

The entrance to the Sky Rise was pristine, the building was either rebuilt or completely brand new from the looks of the walls and blacked out windows. Compared to the area around it, it looked completely out of place and yet it was because of this that made it so much more secure. The door didn't open when she gripped it. A voice spoke over the intercom.
"I've been waiting," it said and the door clicked, "welcome."
The doors automatically opened outward from that point, Harmony stepped back and the entrance to the building was lined with black marble, one person sat at the front desk, they were playing on a device and looked up.
"Oh, we've a visitor," he said, his voice not the one over the intercom, "how can I direct you?"
Harmony looked at Adam and back at him, "we're coming to Alice's place."
"Ah I see, take the elevator to the top floor. Then simply knock."
Who's been waiting? That's what he wondered, he followed Harmony's lead before following the guy's instructions, pressing the button of the elevator, half expecting zombies or something to pop out. Past experiences and all. He went into it and waited against the back wall with his arms crossed. He waited until she got in then did as instructed, pressing the button to the top floor. "I'll lead, just in case someone behind the door decides to shoot at us." It was a half joke before he stepped out of the elevator once it stopped and opened.
He went to the door and was about to knock. If there was a person behind the door he wondered who it could be, definitely a previous associate of Alice maybe? He chuckled inwardly thinking himself an idiot before knocking against the door the old way they used to knock on doors back in the old days.

The door opened, a man in a dark grey button up shirt, blue jeans and long peppered black dreads was standing there, he was bearded and had a very casual look about him as he motioned for them to come in, "it's been a while Adam Kurgan."
His voice was far deeper and gravelier than the last time Adam would have seen him, he was much older than 2007 when he had disappeared with the rest of White Rabbit as they broke up. Back then he had short black hair and was a much smaller build, but he was also eighteen and coming out into the world for the first time much like Adam.
Harmony stood there a moment staring, she didn't know him nor recognize him yet there was something familiar about him.
"Come on, we don't bite," he said.
The inside of the room was much to what Harmony had fantasized, it was rather incredible. It was wood panneled, book shelves, dark and oak colors, sky window, windows on the north side, a large interior kitchen on their left hand side where the windows were, along with a sitting area next to that, on the right was more or less a library of sorts and the entire room was just huge. There might have been a spot for a bed at one time but it looked like the place had been converted into a work space now.
"Gabriel Lachney," he said to Harmony and held his hand out.
"Holy shit... You're alive?" He asked as he stood stunned in the door way for a moment before Harmony passed him. He followed inside and looked around he couldn't believe it, he hadn't seen this guy since the Raid on Umbrella. He looked around still pretty shocked still but now he was just generally amazed, the place was well maintained considering it was four years since someone was here, must've been Gabe's doing. He roamed around the main area taking in the sights and all the other things.
