2005...
"What do we do when this is over," asked a girl, her eyes bright blue, her hair unnaturally blonde as if it was bleached. She was standing in the street with one other, the snow was falling lightly around them, there was a corpse of a licker close by.
"We survive," came her reply, the woman next to her was much older was taller, brown hair she was looking down the street making sure they were safe, "Amy, I can't tell you what comes after this is all over, but I can guarantee I'll do everything in my power to make this world safe for you."
"Alice," Amy said softly.
"Yes?"
"You don't have to do this alone," Amy replied.
"I know."
2007...
"Amy run," Alice yelled.
An entire column of the street exploded as a beam cut across it narrowly missing her and several others, there was a molten line between Alice and Amy now and thunderous gun shots continued to ripple. The city was crumbling as the fight continued yet their major problem was the oncoming 103s, they seemed never ending as the White Rabbit unit cut them down with steady gunfire.
"Alice, go, I got her," Carlos yelled ejecting a magazine from his SCAR and slapped a new one in pulling the receiver back chambering a bullet and moved forward cutting a 103 to his knees with a steady ten shots to its face before Amy made her move using her power to literally snap the 103s neck backwards.
"Nice one kid," Carlos said taking point for the next 103, "you're getting good with those. At this rate you'll be able to protect everyone."
Amy smiled.
2013...
"Wake up," Chambers said holding out a can of steaming soup, "the target is in the open."
Amy opened her eyes and stretched, she couldn't believe she had fallen asleep. There he was down range attempting to open the bunker door. Amy took the can from Chambers and tipped it back taking a drink of the soup and was chewing the potatoes as she grabbed the grip of her rifle and tilted her head sideways firing the rifle one handed. She didn't even look to see if she hit the target she just took another drink.
"Mark down," Chambers said.
"Hey," Amy said, "did we ever find out if Hija was really dead?"
"No," Chambers replied.
"Even after all of that there's still a chance he's alive."
"Don't think about it," Chambers said, "when the time comes, if he's in the open, I'll take the shot."
"Alucard couldn't kill him, do you really think you can," she asked.
Chambers remained silent for a moment then finally said, "someone has to take the shot. If not me, then the next generation has to. It's the way of life now."
"Life sucks."
"Finish your soup, we move in five."
2019...
"You can't go after Himura," Seven said to her.
"We know where the fuck he's at Alice," Amy said.
"And I know YOU can't kill him, we need to think about this better, we need to survive," Seven said.
"Survive? Like how Patriot and Zombie survived? How the fuck are we going to survive when tyrants like Himura and Sears exist? HOW ALICE?!"
"If you die here," Seven began, "it will break the survivors. You are too important."
2020...
"I had him," Amy said.
"If you took the shot, he would have killed you," said the old man.
"Why is everyone so afraid of him," Amy asked.
The old man looked up, he was having trouble lighting his cigar Amy walked over to him and took his lighter lighting it for him, "because Grace, when you've fought on as many battle fields as me you know when you face true evil. It's impossible to kill something that is truly evil without becoming evil yourself. My mentor, her name was... no, her name isn't important. In the end she branded herself as a traitor to protect a country she believed in because she knew the only way to protect it was to become its enemy... Grace... That burden is one you do not want to carry..."
"And if I must," she asked.
He chuckled and held his chest, "then they might as well call you The Boss, because only a Demon can kill other Demons."
2026...
It was raining, Alice was standing at the window of Amy's condo looking out, the room was empty aside from Amy who was walking to her. It was the first time the two of them had been in the same room in almost a decade, it was the first time they had exchanged words since Alice betrayed her.
"Alice," Amy said, her left eye was burning red like it had from XAG being fused to her consciousness and constantly being active, "I don't remember our last encounter but I do remember how mad I was at you."
"It's probably better that way," Alice said.
"This is it, isn't it," Amy asked.
Alice shook her head, "whatever the outcome here, survive. That is all I ask of you Amy. If I die, if Adam dies, if Himura slaughters us, I need you to survive."
"Why am I so special?"
"You're not," Alice said, she smiled, "I told Adam the same thing, if you and I die, he needs to survive. It doesn't matter if it's you or him, one of you needs to survive for the future. It's your future, not mine."
There was silence for a minute the two just staring at one another before Amy finally said, "I was told the only way to kill a demon was to become one."
"Amy, you are too kind to be a demon," Alice said, "even as you are now. Could you kill Adam if he betrayed us right now?"
"No."
"I would. As much as I love you kids, I would kill you where you stand now in order to protect the future," Alice replied, "that doesn't mean I don't care for you. I just know the future is bigger than any one standing in this building now."
"Alice..."
"Amy..."
"I love you," Amy said.
"And I, you," Alice replied.
Present Day
Amy was sitting at the base of the stairs of the Tyrant base, it was formerly the old RPD before the cities destruction, notable changes now was the lack of RPD on top of the gate and a ton of graffiti like many of the Tyrant territories. She was waiting for Adam so that they could head to the devils den.
"What do we do when this is over," asked a girl, her eyes bright blue, her hair unnaturally blonde as if it was bleached. She was standing in the street with one other, the snow was falling lightly around them, there was a corpse of a licker close by.
