The sun had been setting, it had been one of those odd summer days where the rain had been drizzling slightly, and the dark clouds spread thinly out would allow the different hues of the sky fighting through, reds into pinks, purples and vibrant oranges painted the sky. A cold wind would occasionally nip at the air and dance around the clouds above, just as the sun would set against the cracked and damaged pavement of what one could only assume was a highway, would a figure move in the emptiness of the waste. How long had she been running? The sun was in the sky and she couldn’t even smell Raithan anymore, she had lost track of his scent long ago, she had essentially went in one direction not to mention set up small markers she would eventually find her way back to camp but one would say she had gotten herself lost.
It had been a long time since she had been near people, even if people meant a non human out of place cowboy and his sassy horse, her stomach would growl- and she did’t want to risk her hunger taking over- her first thought had been to run away after all it wasn’t safe to stay in the same place for a long time, the silver haired woman would almost blend into the shadows had it not been for hair and glowing golden eyes that seemed to shine against the darkness the rain had brought. The woman would appear as more so a blur or even a trick to the eye to the average human and to even most BOW’s as well, you know..when you see a shadow move quickly from the corner of your vision- given with the rough weather this was perfect hunting grounds for her.
What lead Riley on even more had been the scent, the scent of rot and decay that seeped through the fresh scent of petrichor, almost as if a swampy graveyard had been dragging it’s malodor along the earth below itself and rotting all it touches. This was the trick of her mutation, what tasted the best-out of the two things she could devour...smelled the worse- life was cruel but it made hunting simple, it made zombie ambushes on her nearly impossible, rushing towards the scent she had put everything on the back burner- distance meant nothing when speed and endurance was your strong point-also it wasn’t like she was human.
The reek would bring her to what looked like something that was once a warehouse district of sorts, as the woman would stop and step out of the shadows, her silver hair falling to her face slowly, as she tilted her head back and would sniff at the air, looking towards a rusted lamp post that had been off she would jump up, and grab at it would her dark black and red gloves, pulling herself up until she saw it, it seemed to be stuck between two lumps of metal; the rust buckets could be called cars at one point in their lifetime but had been stripped or rotted to mostly it’s frame.
In an instant she’d be on the ground running towards it, the only sound coming from her had been the growling of her stomach through her corset. She wouldn’t even have given it a look over once, to see if the rotting meat sack had been male or female, or how decayed it had been- a knife would go instantly into the back of it’s head, jumping over the frame she would tackle it down- feeling it’s brittle bones snap under her weight, her knee wet and sticky from no doubt the exploded stomach of the emaciated zombie, her left hand would grab at the hilt of the blade in it’s skull and right would grip it’s chin easily and with one yank- the zombie was headless, and she would have had her own face into the rotted creatures neck, devouring flesh and bone as if it had been nothing- the taste was pure bliss to her- and she could feel her energy growing with every bite- she felt like a wild beast and only lucky that the rain could wash away the blood, her fingers ripping through the corpse quickly- she’d eat until she felt sick- feeling sick from eating too much felt as if a blessing when one hadn’t eaten in a month- before standing up slowly her face and hands bloodstained as Riley would only be able to smell that foul scent, looking to the remains of the corpse, she’d give a soft sigh tilting her head back and allowing the rain to hit her “Know much about purgatory?” She asked the remains as she would work on wiping the blood off of her hands. “It’s a place between heaven and hell....a place of suffering and pain...” She’d look at herself through the reflection of the blade the best she could, before licking at it. “In other words...” She would lick it clean before placing it with one of the many hidden blades on her bodice, licking at her lips.
“The world that we are in now.”
