Tuesdays were always dead enough for him to leave the bar in the hands of one his employees while he went out and ran errands, this Tuesday was no exception. He stopped by the shopping district, a near by floral shop and picked up several bouquets of flowers before catching a train to the Park where he followed a small trail off the beaten path which lead to a cemetery. He usually made sure no one was following but after a while he eventually realized no one really cared. He made his way down off into a small corner, a plot with several tombstones. He cleared each one and pulled the weeds before setting down flowers at each head stone. Each one was empty but it was the thought and sentiment behind it.
Each tombstone held the name of one of his old friends; Alice, Dante, Carlos, and Rain, He stood there for a moment and sighed. "So Amy's back, looks like she's fully recovered too so that's nice." He looked over at a tombstone, "She's become a lot like you, I can see it. Way more confident and sure of herself. She's kind of developed the best qualities of all of you guys. You'd all be pretty proud of her." He stopped and chuckled, "You'll get a kick out of this Alice, there's a local gang filled with B.O.W.s, painting your face all across the city, they pretty much deified you which if you were around now I know you'd hate."
He fell quiet, "I never did apologize for any of the shit I said or did when we were with each other back in '25. Wish you were hear now so I didn't have to do it to an empty grave. LJ's doing alright, still up to his typical shit, keeping a close eye on Molly and John. He hasn't come by the bar in a while so I'm starting to get a little worried... Though honestly he should be fine." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one up. "God it feels like yesterday we were all together laughing and joking while in the midst of a zombie apocalypse at the old RPD station. Can you guys believe I even made it to the age I am? We all thought I wasn't going to be able to last more than two years given everything at the time. Now look..." He choked back the sadness in his voice, the survivors guilt starting to take hold while he stood there, tears running down his cheeks and into his freshly trimmed beard.
He sniffed and wiped his eyes trying to regain his composure, "Amy she's uh... She's starting something, I don't know what, I didn't really ask but I don't think I'd be much use anyways. I just don't have it in me anymore... That became apparent last night." He took a deep breath in through his nose. "I didn't tell her, but the degradation starting to set back in again... and this time it's getting bad, quickly. I've probably got six months top if I'm lucky according to Annette." He took a drag from his cigarette "Sheppard said she was working on something, but let's be real, it's just delaying the inevitable..." He paused, "She'll be alright though," He was talking about Amy, "It's going to hurt for her for a while but honestly... I feel like she could tell from our meeting last night."
He let out another long sigh and let it carry on the sounds of the woods around them. "I always thought I'd go out with a bang, facing down an enemy and going down swinging. Not simply wither away to nothing like before." He let out a small chuckle, "Not exactly what I meant by living out however long I have left peacefully..." He stretched and moaned a little as he shifted his weight. "Alright, enough of this old man bitching... I miss you guys, wherever you all are now."
With that he left, following the path he had taken to get here before ending up on one of the main jogging paths. He walked it for a little before something caught his attention while he was walking.
