Name: Robert Cain, t-CU-007 “Sparda”
Age: 51
Date of Birth: 1978
Place of Birth: Raccoon City
Blood Type: Unknown
Residence: Helsing headquarters
Organization: Helsing
Occupation: Anti-freak special operative
Nature: A grizzled and scarred combat veteran, Robert has made peace with his monstrous nature enough to take pride and enjoyment in his ability to use his horrific power for good. Utterly confident in his abilities, he has very much become Seras Victoria’s counterpart, and shares a friendly rivalry with her.
Demeanor: He deftly wields a dry and sometimes abrasive humour, that aids him in taking his missions in stride no matter how strange or dangerous the situation he finds himself in.
Temperament: Calm and professional overall, but capable of awe-inspiring violence when his temper is riled.
Persona Summary: If Seras is the new Red Devil, Robert is the new Angel of Death. He stands to be counted among the most dangerous individuals on the planet, and he knows it.
Classification: Omega-level BOW
Body Type: Muscular
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 230lbs
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Blue
Distinguishing Marks: Tattoos of occult pentagram seals on the backs of his hands, a tribute to the fallen Alucard
Physical Capabilities:
- Superhuman Physicality: Robert’s strength, speed, agility and reflexes can far exceed normal human limits. Fast enough to dodge bullets as they fly, and strong enough to rip modern Tyrants and the like limb from limb, he is a specimen of overwhelming physical power.
- Regeneration: Robert’s highly accelerated metabolism permits rapid mutation and regeneration of his body. Small wounds can heal almost as fast as they are inflicted, and even lost limbs can be reattached or regrown altogether, much like the Vatican’s regenerators and the Plaga-spawned BOWs of the same name.
- Bodily Transformation: Robert can transform his body at will, sprouting appendages such as tentacles, bony claws, and leathery wings.
- Biomass Consumption: Most terrifyingly, Robert can consume almost any organic matter through bodily contact. This allows him to recover quickly from the exhaustion that often comes from him overexerting his powers; he can fight indefinitely, growing stronger and more dangerous over time, so long as he can find sources of biomass to fuel himself.
Equipment:
- Hellsing Arms Vengeant high-frequency greatsword: Designed by Walter Dornez, with potently blessed metals contributed by the Church of England, and completed by Desperado Enforcement. This massive sword can energise its blade to produce a nigh-unstoppable cutting edge, designed to cleave through the hardened flesh and armour of any Tyrant.
- Hellsing Arms Anathema combat pistols: Conceptualised by Walter Dornez and completed by the weaponsmith prodigy Nico Goldstein. These pistols are forty centimetres long, twelve kilograms in weight, and chambered in .500 Smith & Wesson, firing custom hollow-point rounds cased in Hellsing’s traditional Macedonian silver.
- Hellsing Arms 15mm Genesis heavy combat pistol: Built by Walter to be wielded by the one and only Alucard, then redesigned and perfected by Nico Goldstein after its destruction, this truly nightmarish weapon fires custom 15x120mm cartridges - Macedonian silver-cased, blunt hollow-tip slugs designed for delayed explosive impacts – capable of felling the most monstrous BOWs of Alucard’s time.
Bodily Limitations:
- Regeneration Limitations: Though his bodily regeneration is potent, and can be bolstered by his consumption of biomass, it can be overwhelmed by sudden massive damage.
Appearance:
For every distinct variation of older versions of its bioweapon viruses that came into being, Umbrella’s research underwent a renaissance of sorts as individuals and teams the world over laboured to turn new combinations of these viruses into workable new strains. Few of these efforts have shown such wild and unexpected potential in recent years as the t-CU program, overseen by none other than William Birkin.
The t-CU virus consisted of a cross-strain of the C-Virus and Uroboros, designed with the aim that the host would enjoy both the C-Virus’ preservation of their mental faculties and Uroboros’ ability to absorb, reconstitute and reshape biomass. Experiments were conducted on adult human subjects, in good health, who had demonstrated both high intelligence and great strength of will. Though his efforts were frustrated by early failures, Birkin soon struck upon his first true success - thirty-year-old Robert Cain.
A former private military contractor who had enjoyed a lucrative career in Birkin’s Umbrella for years, Cain displayed all of the characteristics Birkin desired in the ideal t-CU subject. While his body took to the infection all too well, the man himself felt utterly betrayed; he had done all that was asked of him in the line of his work, only to become another guinea pig sacrificed to Birkin’s ambition. The only reason he gave everything he had to resist and bring the infection under control was because he didn’t want to give his life for Birkin as well.
Though the infection had been successful, Birkin couldn’t brook an uncooperative subject. Cain was restrained with the use of neural implants that directed his thoughts toward obedience to Birkin’s instructions, and he was put through a variety of trials to test the capabilities of his newly virus-empowered body. He passed these trials with flying colours; soon he was being flown around the world to be truly put to the proof in live combat tests. All the while, Birkin was conducting new experiments to build on t-CU’s first great success, performing genetic modifications to babies and growing foetuses using material sampled from Cain – whose victories and displays of potential had earned him the codename “Sparda.”
If he could have, Robert would have longed for freedom from this freakish servitude – a wish that would be granted in early 2023. Despite Birkin’s best efforts to only see Cain utilised for missions where he could remain a secret when all was said and done, the efficient new BOW did not go totally unnoticed, and on a fateful night in London drew the attention and ire of the Hellsing organisation. An otherwise routine assassination mission some months later was loudly disrupted by the arrival of Hellsing troops, led by an elite few former members of the Wild Geese mercenary group, and the organisation’s frightening trump card – the vampire Seras Victoria.
Battle was joined, and a horrific battle it was. Sparda demonstrated his overwhelming power; he butchered his way through the Hellsing troops, fed on their biomass to grow all the stronger, and even came close to beating Seras herself into submission and ripping her to shreds. Only a timely distraction by the Wild Geese saved Seras, buying her the opportunity to unleash her full power. Her counterattack was brutal and decisive, and Sparda was ultimately laid low and apprehended by Hellsing, who performed a painstaking study of this terrifying new BOW. Discovering his neural implants, and reasoning that these were the means by which he was kept under the control of his superiors since he was evidently in total control of his viral infection, Hellsing carefully extracted and destroyed the devices.
Sparda was gone, and Robert Cain was reborn, liberated from Birkin’s grip. Hellsing held him for weeks of further study and questioning, including some few conversations with Integra Hellsing herself. Integra came to the careful conclusion that Cain was not a threat now that his mind was his own again, and took the liberty of explaining to him all that he had missed about the state of the world in the many years he had been lost to Birkin’s influence.
Robert didn’t take much convincing to align himself with Hellsing’s overall goal of protecting the people from threats akin to bioterror, and at least for a time, acquiesced to join their ranks. He served as a new trump card against Hellsing's most dangerous prey in missions all over the United Kingdom and abroad, and quickly proved himself a terror on par with Seras. In the space of two years, he established himself as an exemplary soldier, leading his teams from the front and always doing all in his power to keep his men safe - and an even better solo operator, running down and exterminating high-value threats with a body that was close to indestructible, in perfect control of its superhuman capabilities.
When news of the deaths of the legendary Amy Grace and Chris Redfield reached Integra Hellsing's ears, she decreed that it was time for Hellsing to take a far more direct hand in Umbrella's final extinction. When Seras was dispatched to the United States, Robert went with her, carrying Integra's simple orders: search and destroy.
Robert was present in Washington DC for the publicly televised execution of Integra by Hija Himura. He mourned with the rest of Hellsing, and vowed bloody and total revenge alongside Alucard and Seras. Furnished with powerful new weapons courtesy of the genius smith Walter Dornez, he waged Hellsing’s war upon Umbrella, culminating in Alucard’s fateful final encounter with Himura. When all was said and done, he returned to England along with Seras, Walter, and what remained of the now defunct Hellsing.
With the remnants of the organisation being brought under the auspices of Elias Helsing, Integra’s distant cousin, Robert has spent the interim years continuing his work, solidifying his reputation as an anti-freak combat specialist to be feared.
