Maricul climbed up to the rooftops of Mission Street and jumped from one building to the next watching the city below. She knew where Helsing was located, but wasn't about to barge into their headquarters guns blazing just to be overwhelmed by Helsing soldiers. Better to let them send someone after her first and fight on her own turf. Maricul rested on one of the rooftops and merely watched the people below as they tried to live regular lives despite everything that was going on around them.
'How peaceful,' thought Maricul.
Suddenly she felt something powerful closely approach her and she turned around to face where it was coming from. Wondering if this was Seras Victoria finally come to put her in an early grave, or was it something more?
The investigation had begun at the site of the vampire's first appearance - her butchery of a great number of innocent citizens, and her brief battle against the mysterious Tyrant. Recordings of the news footage from the incident were studied carefully, the better to examine the abilities the woman had demonstrated. The thing about higher vampires was that no two were the same. They could have all sorts of unique tricks up their sleeves.
Finally, though, he had caught her scent. Elias' orders were clear - search and destroy.
From an alleyway below, a silhouetted figure leaped into view, touching down with thudding footfalls on the roof at the opposite end from the vampire. He rose to his full height, and blue eyes stared at his prey.
"There you are," he began. "Considering you had to resort to indiscriminate murder to get our attention, you've been trying to keep a low profile since we arrived. Having second thoughts about the way you've tempted fate?"

Maricul looked the man up and down. It wasn't Seras Victoria. Then again why would it be? The man who led Helsing now seemed like the type who didn't like to give his enemies what they wanted, so now she must deal with another agent that was not Seras Victoria. She had to work her way up after all.
"The message has been sent. There's no need to waste ink."
Maricul didn't move her left hand, but it was ready to dive into her coat and grab the 9mm Blood Lust the second the man made a move to action.
He could practically taste the tension in the air - she'd been ready for someone to bring a fight to her ever since her first appearance to call her foes to action. She would soon learn to be careful what she wished for.
"Helsing," he answered her, and raised his right hand to pat the patch on the left breast of his coat. "So I'm sure I don't need to wax theatrical about how this is going to end." He tilted his head forward, clenched and released his fists to tense them.

"So, you have no idea who I am, do you?"
There was an advantage in that. She had been locked away for so many years that those who remembered her legacy would've been long dead by now. Alucard was gone and so was Integra, so there were nobody left to tell the tale of the vampire Seductress who was the scorn of Europe. A woman sired by the legendary Count Dracula. Better known around the world as the Apex Predator, Alucard.
Rob bristled quietly at those words. Somehow they felt like more than bluster. They made him all the more certain that this was somehow personal for the vampire - she made such a show of challenging Helsing because she had a grudge to satisfy. He would need to tread carefully, and fight decisively.
"Let's find out." In a blur of motion the man advanced, speeding across the roof towards his foe. He drew the enormous sword from across his back, and stepped through into a wide diagonal swing aimed across her midsection, seeking to cut her to pieces on the spot.

Everyone was a speed runner in this city. First the tyrant tried to impress her with its speed, and now this man was doing more of the same. But Mari knew speed from her time with Ranko and how to track it. She wasn't a slow poke herself either. Maricul quickly drew the 9mm Blood Lust from her coat pocket and open fired at the man's chest while he charged, seconds before leaping backwards off the rooftop and falling down to the ground below on her feet. Now walking backwards and looking up to see if the man would follow suit.
The 9mm slugs thudded against his reinforced coat, trying in vain to bite into his flesh, but Rob advanced unperturbed, only to have the swing of his sword meet empty air. As it was, it would take much heavier ordinance than that to slow him down. Their first exchange came out even.
As the vampire dove off the roof into the alleyway behind her, Rob gave chase. The instant he appeared over the edge, he punched the air towards the ground with his free left hand - and a trio of tentacles lashed out from up his sleeve, attaching to the bricks and cobbles within reach of the vampire. Like a grapple hook, Rob reeled himself in towards her at speed, and came down with a thunderous overhand swing of his blade.

Maricul once again leaped out of the way, backwards from where the man was about to land with his sword. Firing more 9mm bullets this time for the skull of the man while drawing the 11mm Blessing in her other hand. Now firing with both pistols at the man's chest.
Seeing his second strike fail to hit home, the swordsman leapt forward in pursuit of his opponent even as she dove out of the way and returned fire with a second pistol. This one packed more of a punch, but it still wouldn't be enough to impede him. Even as the bullets bit into his flesh, he bounded after her, leaping to and fro around the alley to throw off her aim.
As he closed in, he punched forward with his left hand again, and the tentacles lashed towards the vampire to try to snare her in place. She was damned quick, and had reflexes to match; he needed to find a way to slow her down and bring her within his reach.

Maricul rolled out of the way of the tentacles and continued to fire with the 11mm Blessing, which seemed to be the best choice of weapon for right now, but Mari still found herself wishing she had a bigger gun.
"I see now. You're just a freak."
Maricul stood up to her feet and put the 9mm Blood Lust back in her coat pocket and released a serpent familiar from her wrist. The black corbra launched itself at the man and opened its mouth wide to swallow him whole.
As the shadowy serpent attacked, Rob was leaping through the air towards his foe. With nowhere for him to go, the cobra unhinged its maw, opened wide, and snatched him right out of the air. It reared back when it hit the ground, raising its head as if labouring to swallow down its next meal. It tensed up, recoiled, shrieked in pain - and a steel blade with edge of luminous blue, whining audibly in the air, jutted out through the top of its head.
With a muffled roar of challenge, Robert wrenched the blade down, splitting the top of the serpent's head in two. Writhing tentacles grasped it to push the halves apart, and Robert pulled himself free, thudding to the ground. The tentacles retracted somewhere beneath his coat, and as the cobra fell limp beside him, he turned predatory yellow eyes upon the vampire.

"Why should I when the real object of my desire has yet to reveal herself?"
Mari of course spoke of Seras Victoria. A surviving product of the siring process with Count Dracula as herself. She was the real prize Maricul wanted from Helsing. Not this freak BOW. Maricul opened her coat and more corbras erupted from her body alongside spiders. The corbras looked to bite down on Sparda's flesh and spread their venom through his veins while the spiders went to crawl up his legs and consume his flesh.
Yeah, this was definitely personal. This vampire must be known to Seras; Rob made a mental note to ask her when he was done here. All he had to do for now was press the attack, and she'd soon regret not taking him as seriously as the opponent she wanted.
When the spiders and serpents came forth, Rob raised his sword overhead and crossed his left hand over his torso. His coat undulated, and a mass of fleshy tentacles erupted from beneath, sporting wicked appendages of what looked like bone. They moved as a wall of writhing blades, hacking and slashing to keep the vampire's familiars at bay, while he drew from under his right arm the red Anathema pistol. A spare tentacle closed over the slide to cock the weapon for him, and he took aim.
The sound when he pulled the trigger was more like a tank cannon than a pistol, as a blessed 500-caliber slug thundered forth, aimed squarely at the vampire's center of mass.

Another serpent shot forward to take the blast from the .500 bullet as Maricul jumped up on a small building to look down at the chaos in front of her. Her trench coat was now gone and her hair was down to her shoulders as she unleahsed a new familiar to the battle. The T-103 tyrant with the blade and extremely hard skin that was killed back on Warren Street and consumed by her. He charged at the man at amazing speed for a tyrant and sliced through the tentacles with his sword inching nearer to the man himself.
