The flight to Raccoon City would've been a boring one had it not been for the old Game Gear in her possession. Playing Streets of Rage was a nice relief for her PTSD as she got to break things without actually having to break anything. Garrus found the old technology curious, but he didn't get the appeal of pretending to be someone else in a fictional universe when the real world was so much more interesting. Tori really felt her age when nobody else on the plane knew what exactly she was playing on. Her attention then went to her phone when she felt it vibrate in her pocket. Picking it up to find a message from someone simply titled 'The Genius'.
Welcome to Raccoon City, Miss Jay. I hope your stay is a pleasant one.
Tori was suspicious. Of course, who wouldn't be after a message like that. She sent back her own text:
How did you get this number?
Information is my specialty.
Tori gave the phone to Garrus who was just as suspicious. He was dressed in blue military gear with a helmet to cover up his mutation. When the plane landed Tori received one more text from the Genius.
Kragen will be waiting for you at the airport.
Tori and Garrus got off the plane and went through the line to get their luggage. They were met by security who poked and prodded them accordingly. Two men in military gear looked her over and one of them smiled.
"Hey, Wedge, we got ourselves a war hero," said Biggs. "This is Commander Tori Jay."
"Commander Tori Jay? The unnatural that fought off a whole platoon of Umbrella soldiers by herself?"
"That's the one."
"Please, that was so long ago. Call me Tori."
"What brings you to Raccoon City?" asked Biggs.
"Tourist attraction."
"You're taking your medicine I hope?" asked Wedge.
Tori took out a bottle of pills and shook them. "Never leave home without them."
The soldiers smiled and went on their way. As the Genius had stated Tori spotted Kragen in the crowd and the man went up to them. Tori was used to being around people who wore masks by now, so the gas mask didn't unsettle her.
"Kragen, it's good to see you again."
"Commander."
"What have you found out about the place?"
"Cluster fuck."
"So I hear."
"We got a text message from someone calling himself the Genius a few minutes ago," explained Garrus. "Mean anything to you?"
"Information broker. Buys, sells, and trades information to the highest bidder. Approach with caution."
"Right now we need to find a place to hang our heads before we start exploring the city and finding out who the important people of interest are. I also need a place to plug in my Genesis."
Tori smiled. Kragen was at least old enough to know what the Sega Genesis was, even though he definitely wasn't a gamer. Tori and Garrus took their luggage in their possession, and set off with Kragen by their side. He told them about White Rabbit, TYRANT, Helsing, Devil, Blu Umbrella, and the vampire Maricul. There were a lot of things happening in Raccoon City. Now she just needed to pick a place to start.
